Casa di Monte, as already specified, is situated on an important watershed that from one side is characterized by Val di Forfora and Svizzera Pesciatina and from the other side by the highest mountains of the Apennines: Balzo Nero, Libro Aperto, Monte Rondinaio.
An ideal location for trekking, mushrooms- and chestnuts-harvesting, river and lake fishing, hunting. Here you can also practice a lot of sports such as jogging, mountain-bike, horse riding. In other words in Casa di Monte you can find everything you need for your relax in a paradise’s secluded place set high into the mountains, where roe-deers, deers, boars, hares and birds are still free in the wild nature.
Important is also the fact that the little village is not far from marvellous cities of art like Pistoia, with one of the most beautiful squares in Italy and the well-known zoological gardens; Florence, with the numerous museums and monuments; Lucca, with its picturesque town walls; Montecatini, with its thermal baths and elegant boutiques; Collodi, the most lovely destination for children because of the presence of the “Parco di Pinocchio”. Moreover we can consider the Tyrrhenian Sea in Versilia and the ski complexes of Abetone and Cutigliano, easily reachable thank of the new road that connects Casa di Monte directly with Piteglio, and then, with La Lima.
But you should also visit the surrounding countries, well-known for their history and that still preserve a bit of tradition in their urbanity plant: Calamecca, Crespole, Prunetta, Lucchio, Bagni di Lucca, Castelnuovo Garfagnana, Barga, Gavinana, S.Marcello, Fiumalbo and many other places like The Scaffaiolo Lake and The Santo lake, The “Madonna dell’Acero” Sanctuary.
